Thirty Million children around the world do not have shoes, and shoes are one of the first steps out of poverty. This is a need that will never end as a child grows from one stage to another, and our shoe drive will truly make a difference.
Our Purpose for the event
Our shoe drive, Traveling on a Shoestring is a way to connect travel and shoes together. Our thoughts are, we are providing a way for children to move from one place to another, traveling by foot as they walk, jump, skip, run and climb. Wearing shoes keeps them safe from diseases and protects them from the elements. Shoes gives children confidence and builds their character. We would hope that this shoe drive would make an impact with all those things, but with each child that receives a pair of shoes hopefully they will receive at least one thing that will assist them with a better life. It may not be a name brand shoe, but it will be a shoe that they will love. Every child deserves to have shoes on their feet.
